Our Story
Hey neighbors.
We're the new owners of Green Street Market, the little market at Green and Laguna, and we've been pouring ourselves into this place ever since we took over.
Here's the deal: we want this to be your corner store. The spot you run to in slippers for eggs, a cold drink, or a bottle of wine for dinner. The place that has the thing you forgot on the big grocery run. The place where we learn your name and your usual.
What's new
We redid the whole place.

Fresh produce and cheese.
The wine aisle.

The deli
40 sandwiches on the board.
The deli is the heart of the place. Every sandwich is made to order.
We've also got the everyday stuff: groceries, snacks, ice, beer, spirits and a seriously big wine selection.
Timeline
A little corner history.
1800s
Cows in Cow Hollow
The neighborhood is named for the dairy farms that used to be here. The livestock was ordered out in 1891.
Late 1800s
The lagoon behind the name
Washerwoman's Lagoon, a few blocks away, gets filled in. Laguna Street is what's left of it.
c. 1900
Our building goes up
City records date the two-story flats-and-store on this corner to about 1900.
1918
A library on the block
The Golden Gate Valley Library opens at Green and Octavia, a Carnegie library designed by Ernest Coxhead. Grab a book, then grab a sandwich.
1994
Green Street Market
City records show a Green Street Market at 1898 Green since 1994.
2022
New owners
New owners take over the little corner store at Green and Laguna.
Then
A whole new store
A full renovation and a new layout: the cold drinks wall, a real wine aisle, produce under the Bay mural, and chalkboard menus over the deli.
Today
40 sandwiches on the board
Every one made to order, on sourdough, a soft roll, wheat or Dutch crunch. Come say hi.
Come say hi
We're here for the neighborhood: the regulars, the quick stops on the way home, and anyone who just needs a friendly face.
